Software

I have now completed my training to work with Adobe Audition this is now the main program we use. I now feel more confident when it comes to answering any questions that may arise, whether it's to do with EVP or software and editing.

We currently use, Acoustica 3.3 , Clear Voice Denoiser and Adobe Audition 1.5

Acoustica 3.3 is used to upload recordings onto the computer, you can then adjust the volume of your recording also enhance the clip to improve the quality. This is also a great program to clip your recordings.

Clear Voice Denoiser is used to eliminate some of the background noise, such as static hiss that is quite common when recording EVPs. Remember that this program only recognizes *wav. files and is not used to EDIT the file but to filter it.

Both these programs (Clear Voice and Acoustica) are wonderful especially when on a budget. They are reasonably priced when compared to similar programs of their quality. Also you can download a 30-day free trial version of both programs (just click on their names to go to the sites).

When you are ready to upload your clips from the recorder to your audio software on your computer, a lot of recorders will come with USB plug-ins. A USB plug-in uploads at a much faster rate, but this compression can effect the quality of your recording, so even though it is quicker and more convenient this is not always the best way.

It is recommended that you use a Patch Cord instead, the reason for this is, Audio Cables/Patch Cords record directly onto your sound card. This will make your recording stay truer to the original.
